The other Extreme
here I am back to normal life after I finished the NO FACE NO COMMUNICATION challange..
I loved experiencing it =D
And now I’m reading about this artist called Cristin Norine doing the other opposite..
Cristin is an artist and took a challenge upon herself to show how much we are attached to the new social media..
She decids to live in a glass room allowing anyone walking in the street to know the little details of her daily life..
She wants to prove how much these social networks like Facebook, Twitters, iChat expose our lives invade our privacy..
She is not to leave the room.. Not to interact directly to any human beings and not to use her phone to call anybody.. She is allowed to text and video chat..
Interesting experiment for a whole full month !
she bloggs everyday and reveals her ups and downs..
Here is the website for all her experience

No Face No Communication

Here is another experimental challenge I'm doing..
for this week, my friend Tala Zabalawi and I are going to live a week without any communication tool..
no mobiles, no telephones, no msn, no facebook, no emails, no exception..
We believe in face to face communication and only it..
We will lose some time doing things that we would easily plan on phone.. We will miss far people.. we will do it the oldie style..
And above all.. We will still be smiling if we had to wait 2 hours for a friend.. or if we had to drive to a relative only to find that s/he is not home...
:D
The face is the door to the mind.
Without it, the mind is shut off. There is no communication.
- Mr. Okuyama (Tatsuya Nakadai) in The Face of Another
'The Face of Another' is a Japanese done in 1966..
it describes the journey of a man who has a disfigured face and is struggling with his daily communication..
This only proves that with NO FACE NO COMMUNICATION..
>>> here is the my outcomes =)

Going Veggie
I'll be checking my life list and writing reviews on the accomplished tasks.
For now, a new item added on my life list by practicing it directly,
Going vegetarian

My friend watched this movie on how cruel animals are killed to fill our stomachs.. she cried her heart out, and decided to go vegetarian for a month. According to her calculations she will be saving at least a chicken a week..
I didn’t watch the movie yet, but I decided to go along with her in this journey. Though my perspective is different.
I'm doing this month for 3 reasons:
A) Live and experiment this life style.
B) This month of no meat no chicken might and should introduce me to new dishes that I would've never have tried if I had the option.
e.g. Sushi, the idea of eating raw fish repulse me, but this is a golden chance for new experiments.
C) See how my body would react to this change.. is it a healthier choice or will I lose my energy?
This diet exclude meat and chicken only.. Dairy products are allowed. ((a previous attempt to eliminate cheese from my diet for a week failed)).
We will be sharing new recipes and supporting tips.. its going to be hard to let go of the Shawerma..
God help us.
I'll be sharing the outcomes with you when this long month is put to an end .

What makes you smile?
For World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10th October, the BBC is urging the nation to smile its way to better mental health.
I smile at the smallests silliest details,, I smile when I observe surroundings,, I smile at peoples' unconscious reactions,, I even smile at myself..
I often look crazy..
So,What makes you smile?

Yesterday, I was eating a delicious macaroni salad at my friend’s house..
It contained macaroni, lettuce, and some unidentified chunks.. I was told that they are pieces of green apple when I asked..
I continued enjoying the salad.until,,,
my friend asked me: “do you like them?”
I said: “they are weird that’s all.. I’m still going to eat them!”
My friend: “it’s either you like them or you don’t!!”
Me: “ I don’t!”
And just after I stated that, I couldn’t stand to eat another chunk!
** Today’s advice : Somethings are better left unidentified!

The Button
How bad would it be to push this button?? I don’t think of it as a selfish gesture.. it’s just that with the ten million a person can help more than ten people to have better health or even better lives!
Sorry if it sounds evil.. but, I would choose to push the button if I had the chance!

Bungee Jumping in Mexico
Bungee jumping is yet another to-do dream on my life list..(read the other idea) So the other day I was searching on the internet for some facts about safety and origins of Bungee Jumping..
and here is a story that I found ..
Alice and Frank were Bungee jumping one day.
Alice says to Frank, "You know we could make a lot of money running our
own Bungee-jumping business in Mexico ."
Frank thinks this is a great idea, so they pool their money and buy
everything they need: a tower, an elastic cord, insurance, etc.
They travel to Mexico and begin to set up on the square. As they are
constructing the tower, a crowd begins to assemble. Slowly, more and more
people gather to watch them at work.
When they had finished, there was such a crowd, they thought it would be
a good intent to give a demonstration, so Alice jumps.
She bounces at the end of the cord, but when she comes back up, Frank
notices that she has a few cuts and scratches. Unfortunately, Frank isn't
able to catch her and she falls again, bounces, and comes back up again.
This time, she is bruised and bleeding.
Again, Frank misses her. Alice falls again and bounces back up. This
time, she comes back pretty messed up — she's got a couple of broken
bones and is almost unconscious.
Luckily, Frank finally catches her this time and says, "What happened???
Was the cord too long????"
Barely healthy to speak, Alice gasps, "No, the Bungee cord was fine…it
was the crowd!….What the HELL is a Piñata?!"

A thought
I am writing my life list, adding various items from dreams to must do-s from adventuring experiences to mind opening ones.
While I was listing and listing I thought of this idea that I couldn’t wait to try.
It’s very simple yet much more adventurous..Its fulfilling and rich..It gives because it takes..its living a blind day..Yes ‘A BLIND DAY’ why not? tying a blindfold and live an ordinary day* or wearing dark glasses coloured with even more black to make it impossible to see and go out in the streets and break a leg!
I think then and perhaps only then I’ll experience weird nice annoying and fulfilling feelings..I’ll feel better sounds, stronger smells and more textures..And it’s a bit more than that it’s also living a life of a blind person and experiencing how he is treated in our society..
My list also includes a ‘Mute day’ and a ‘Deaf day’ I believe these days are going to add to me some of what I miss.
I would encourage everybody to try it..
Why not make it a group thing or a campaign day where each person chooses his/her strongest sense and dares to live a day without.
And if you got the hang of this little experimental game why not try a ‘blind deaf day’ or a ‘blind mute day’.. And if you still dare for more try a ‘wheel chair day’!!
Share the feelings of people who suffer from them on daily basis and some of them learnt things they themselves couldn’t imagine they would be able to do !!
*by ordinary I mean a day where you live all your routines in the same portions..Experience choosing good fruits from the groceries judging from the smell or texture..Cutting them would be even more challenging..Your blind painting could introduce you to your new favourite combination of colours..needing someone t hold your hand while cutting the street is annoying but it might indicate a patient true friend.
**Warning: this day should be picked wisely to avoid unwanted results!

On Being Shy
During this year i had to create a "shy font".. I have to say i lived this project I enjoyed these philosophic ideas and i read it not less than 20 times.. this is a part of Jerome's ideas..
Enjoy...
A shy man's lot is not a happy one. The men dislike him, the women despise him, and he dislikes and despises himself.
The shy man does have some slight revenge upon society for the torture it inflicts upon him. He is able, to a certain extent, to communicate his misery. He frightens other people as much as they frighten him.
This is a good deal brought about by misunderstanding. Many people mistake the shy man's timidity for overbearing arrogance and are awed and insulted by it.
A shy man means a lonely man--a man cut off from all companionship, all sociability. He moves about the world, but does not mix with it.
He sees the pleasant faces and hears the pleasant voices on the other side, but he cannot stretch his hand across to grasp another hand.
The shy man, like a leper, stands apart. His soul is full of love and longing, but the world knows it not. The iron mask of shyness is riveted before his face, and the man beneath is never seen.
Yes, shy men, like ugly women, have a bad time of it in this world, to go through which with any comfort needs the hide of a rhinoceros. Thick skin is, indeed, our moral clothes, and without it we are not fit to be seen about in civilized society. A poor gasping, blushing creature, with trembling knees and twitching hands, is a painful sight to everyone, and if it cannot cure itself, the sooner it goes and hangs itself the better.
His character is unformed. He speaks in such a low pitiable voice.
He longs to "go it" with the others, and curses himself every day for not being able to. He will now and again, screwing up his courage by a tremendous effort, plunge into roguishness. But it is always a terrible _fiasco_, and after one or two feeble flounders he crawls out again, limp and pitiable.
I say "pitiable," though I am afraid he never is pitied.
You scarcely ever meet a really shy man--except in novels or on the stage, where, by the bye, he is much admired, especially by the women.
The shy man, who never looks at anything but his own boots, sees not and is not tempted. Happy shy man!
The boys tell him that he's "worse than a girl," and the girls repudiate the implied slur upon their sex by indignantly exclaiming that they are sure no girl would be half as bad.
